Wind Farm Subsidies to End

June 19, 2015 12:00 am

Honouring a Election Manifesto pledge, the Conservative Government has announced its intention to end subsidies for onshore wind farms from 1st April 2016.  This is  a year earlier than expected.  The Department for Energy and Climate Change (DECC) has stated there will be a grace period for those projects will planning permission which may still be able to receive support under the Renewables Obligation.  It should be noted that most farm-scale projects fall under Feed in Tariffs for support and are therefore not affected by this announcement.
