Welsh RD Schemes August 25, 2016 12:00 am Welsh farmers have a further opportunity to apply for grants under the Rural Development programme. The Cabinet Secretary for the Environment & Rural Affairs has agreed to a further window of Expressions of Interest (EoI) for the following schemes: Glastir Woodland Creation: opens on 30th August and closes on 14th October 2016. But due to Brexit and future funding uncertainties, the Welsh Government can only guarantee the offer of establishment and associated capital works payments. Income foregone and maintenance cannot be guaranteed at present. Glastir Woodland Restoration: opens on 30th August and closes on 30th September 2016. Funding is available to replant areas of Larch which have been felled to prevent the spread of Phytophthora ramorum disease. Sustainable Production Grant Scheme: opens on 5th September. This provides capital grants for facilities and equipment which relate to animal health & welfare, crop storage, production housing & handling, renewable energy production and soil & crop management. Rural Community Development Fund also opens on September 5th. This is aimed at LEADER Local Action Groups (LAGs) and other community-based organisations.
