Welsh Land Reclassification

Rebecca Evans, Deputy Minister for Farming and Food has announced a deadline extensions for those farmers seeking reclassification of SDA land. The majority of case submitted to the Technical Review Process have been for the reclassification of Moorland, the deadline for stage 2 reports remains the 28^th November for these cases.  A small number of cases have requested for SDA land to be reclassified as ‘Other Land’; the highest paying region.  Judgement on these requests depends on the land’s potential to produce, as such these stage 2 reports must be prepared by CAAV or RICS members.  Requests for stage 2 reports involving SDA land have been received by claimants later than Moorland reclassification and so the report submission deadline has been extended until 31^st December 2014. Although this extension is good news for some it does put extra pressure on the Welsh Government to get entitlement values calculated and new BPS entitlementsissued in the new year.
