Welsh CAP Update

September 11, 2013 12:00 am

The deadline for responses to the Welsh Government’s consultation on CAP reform implementation has been extended.  The cut-off was originally the 15th October (see July article), but this has now been moved to the 8th November.  The consultation can be found at – http://new.wales.gov.uk/consultations/environmentandcountryside/proposals-for-direct-payments-to-farmers/;jsessionid=438D9FC09B377D816FE7BB2CFA8470B9?lang=en

The paper suggests that one of the options for ‘regionalising’ Wales is to split land into ‘moorland’ and ‘other land’ categories.  The Welsh Government has also now published a map of the moorland line showing where the boundary between regions would fall.  This can be found at – http://data.wales.gov.uk/apps/moorland/.  It is possible to zoom in so that the status of individual land parcels can be ascertained.
