Welsh BPS Payments

The Welsh Government produced an online BPS payments calculator at the start of the month.  This was to allow farmers in the Principality to see the effect of the new payments system on their farms.  For many, this was the first time that the full implications of the single Welsh region and Redistributive Payment became clear.  Many were shocked at the figures – particularly in this first year.  The issue is the phasing of changes, and especially the fact that the Redistributive Payment was planned to be introduced in full from the first year of the BPS.  The Welsh Government has removed the calculator, and is apparently in discussion with stakeholders about the way payments are going to be calculated.
