Waste Exemption Renewals September 26, 2013 12:00 am Farmers in England and Wales should have registered for agricultural waste exemptions by the 30th September. Under the Environmental Permitting regulations all businesses handling ‘waste’ need to have a permit. A number of standard exemptions apply to agriculture, but farmers have to apply for these exemptions. The type of activities covered include the burning of hedge trimmings, the use of tyres on silage clamps, burning waste wood and the re-use of building rubble. Any exemptions registered before the 6th April 2010 need to be re-registered. This can be done online, more details are available at – http://www.environment-agency.gov.uk/business/sectors/32779.aspx or http://naturalresourceswales.gov.uk/apply-buy-report/apply-buy-grid/waste/waste-permtting/farm-exemption/?lang=en#.UkQmwtJJOop
