Wage Rates September 29, 2015 12:00 am New National Minimum Wage rates apply across the UK from 1st October, previous rates are shown in brackets; Workers aged 21 and over – £6.70 (£6.50) – +3% Workers aged 18-20 – £5.30 (£5.13) Workers under 18 – £3.87 (£3.79) Apprentice Rate – £3.30 (£2.73) Although there is no longer an Agricultural Wages Board operating in England, they do remain in place in other UK administrations. For 2015/16 Northern Ireland will see a 2% rise in rates, in Wales the 2012 Order remains in force and in Scotland a 10p rise will take the minimum rate for agricultural workers (employed for 26+ weeks) to £7.24 per hour. For those involved in wage negotiations some statistics may be helpful. The year-on-year inflation increase to the end of August was just 0.1% (CPI measure). Wages have risen by 2.9% (year-on-year change to three month average to the end of July). Looking at private sector wages only, the yearly rise is 3.4%.
