US Beef Market

November 4, 2013 12:00 am

After sixteen years the United States has re-opened its markets to EU beef.  A ban was originally imposed in 1997 at the height of the BSE crisis.  The change in legislation will be published in the Federal Register soon, with the rule becoming effective 90 days after publication.  The move gives the UK access to an estimated £60 million market, however exports will not be happen immediately as there are no USDA approved beef plants within the UK.
