UK 2013/14 Cereal Supply and Demand September 29, 2014 12:00 am Final UK cereals supply and demand figures for the 2013/14 (July-June) season have been published. This includes official trade and usage data for the whole season. The final closing wheat stock level has reduced by 10% compared to last year at 1.96 million tonnes. This reduction is not surprising as last year saw the highest wheat carry-over since 2008 and the third highest since 1990. Demand for wheat for animal feed fell by 10% with total usage at 13.9 million tonnes. For barley exports totaled 1.16 million tonnes, lower than DEFRA’s estimate in May but three times higher than the 2012/13 year. Overall, consumption increase by 6% whilst end of year stocks were 40% higher than last year. Supply and demand figures for oats have not seen significant changes since estimates were published in May. Compared to the 2012/13 year supplies are 35% higher, demand is 22% higher and closing stocks are 141% higher.
