Graham Redman, Partner of The Andersons Centre, proudly presented the first-ever John Nix Award, in association with the Worshipful Company of Farmers. The award was made at their annual agricultural lecture and dinner in London. The award recognises excellence in rural business management. It is a joint initiative between The Andersons Centre and the Worshipful Company of Farmers.
Celebrating Leadership and Excellence
The presentation of the Award honours outstanding individuals who have completed either of the Worshipful Company’s flagship training programmes: the Challenge of Rural Leadership or Agricultural Business Management courses and then gone on to achieve significant success in the agricultural industry.
This year the award was presented to Milly Fyfe, who impressed the judges with her commitment to the agricultural industry, her application of strong business management principles, and her remarkable charitable work, bringing agriculture and food production to the general public and schools. The judges – Graham Redman (The Andersons Centre), Jeremy Finnis (Senior Warden of the Worshipful Company of Farmers) and Cedric Porter (Supply Intelligence, representing Farmers Guardian) – praised Milly’s innovative thinking and leadership qualities.
Honouring a Legacy
The John Nix Award is named in honour of the late Professor John Nix who was a leading figure in farm business management and creator of the John Nix Pocketbook for Farm Management, which is now edited by Graham Redman of The Andersons Centre. The 56th edition of the Pocketbook will be published in September 2025.
Looking Ahead
The Worshipful Company of Farmers’ Charitable Fund supports the education and development of future leaders in the agricultural sector through initiatives such as the John Nix Award and associated leadership courses. The Andersons Centre is proud to be associated with this initiative.
Applications for the 2026 John Nix Award will open next year. All alumni of the Challenge of Rural Leadership and Agricultural Business Management courses are encouraged to apply.
In the meantime, keep an eye out for the next edition of the Nix Farm Management Pocketbook, available from September 2025 via www.theandersonscentre.co.uk/shop.
