Much media attention has been created this month by the publication of the ‘State of Nature’ report.  This is a colloboration by 25 of the UK’s wildlife organisations, billed as a ‘health-check’ of the natural environment.  Much of the coverage focused on the alarming statistics that 60% of the species studied have declined over recent decades and more than 10% of all the species assessed are under threat of disappearing.  The full report can be found from http://www.rspb.org.uk/ourwork/science/stateofnature/index.aspx
