SRDP Transition

September 28, 2013 12:00 am

The Scottish Governmenthas confirmed that the main elements of the existing Scottish Rural Development Programme (SRDP) will continue into 2014.  As we have written previously (see July article), current Rural Developement schemes are due to end on the 31st December 2013.  However, delays in agreeing CAP reform means that the replacement programmes will not be ready until well into 2014.  National Governments have therefore been allowed to ‘roll-over’ parts of their current programmes.

The following schemes will be available in Scotland next year;

  • LFASS will continue – there will be no rule changes, and eligibility, application processes, and timing of payments will be as the 2013 scheme
  • all agri-environmental contacts due to expire on 31st December 2013 will be extended for one year (to allow a new SRDP to be put in place).  This will affect around a thousand farmers, including those with organic agreements.  SGRPID will contact agreement holders shortly
  • woodland schemes will remain open for applications until the end of 2013 with completion of the work being allowed in 2014
  • crofting support will continue largely unchanged into 2014

It has been confirmed that there will be Land Managers Options (LMO) scheme available in 2014.
