Solar PV Strategy

The Department for Energy and Climate Change (DECC) has published the first UK Solar PV Strategy. In June 2013 the UK had 2.4GW of installed capacity. The aim of this strategy is to significantly increase installations as part of the Government’s target to have 15% of energy consumption generated from renewables by 2020.

Currently rooftop installations up to 50kW are allowed under permitted development rights, the DECC strategy proposes a twenty fold increase, opening the doors to many more industrial rooftop installations. The Department for Communities and Local Government plan to consult on the proposed 1MW permitted development limit (8,000-10,000sq m) during this summer.
