Soil Framework Directive Withdrawn

The Soil Framework Directive has been withdrawn by the European Commission after years of opposition from some Member States. The Directive was published in 2006 but was blocked in 2007 by a coalition made up on the UK, France, Germany, the Netherlands and Austria.  The legislative proposal has now been formally withdrawn.
