Slow Potato Planting Progress

Wet and cold weather over the last few weeks has affected potato plantings.  Progress has been made on lighter land but heavier soils are proving difficult to work and there are reports that preparation has been taking more work than normal.  The weather also needs to warm up to promote any growth.  AHDB estimated planting progress as at 16^th April shows the 2016 area behind the last five years for the same week, at about 20,000ha.
