The Scottish Upland Sheep Support Scheme opens for claims on the 1st September.  The scheme has an annual budget of €8 million and payment rates will depend on number of animals claimed each year.  However, the rate is estimated at around €100 per ewe hogg. Businesses that rely on rough grazing; those with 80% or more of agricultural land in Payment Region 3 and less than 200 hectares of agricultural land in Payment Region 1 are eligible.  Payments are made on homebred ewe hoggs that are kept on farm or croft from October in the year claimed to 31st March the following year.  There is an upper payment limit of one ewe hogg to every four hectares. The subsidy can be claimed online or using the claim form (https://www.ruralpayments.org/publicsite/futures/topics/your-business/forms/susss-claim-form), claims must be submitted by 16th October.
