Scottish Rent and Economics Statistics

The Scottish Government has published new data on the rental market in Scotland.  ‘Tenanted Agricultural Land in Scotland, 2012’  can be found at – http://www.scotland.gov.uk/Publications/2013/06/2849.  It shows that around a quarter of Scottish farmland is rented (excluding agreements of less than a year), although the area is in long-term decline.  The average lowland rent had increased by 18% between 2008 and 2011 (latest figures) to £127 per Ha (£51 per acre). 

Also recently published is the ‘Economic Report on Scottish Agriculture, 2013’.  This presents an annual overview of Scottish agriculture using data from various sopurces including the Farm Accounts Survey and the June Census.  It can be found at – http://www.scotland.gov.uk/Publications/2013/06/5219
