Scottish Farm Profitability

January 31, 2014 12:00 am

Total Income from Farming (farm profitability) in Scotland improved by 16% in 2013 compared to the year before.  The first estimates from the Scottish Government (see http://www.scotland.gov.uk/Resource/0044/00442881.pdf) have TIFF standing at £829m for last year.  The increase was largely achieved by higher output – notably in the potato and dairy sectors.  This was slightly offset by higher costs (animal feed) and lower support payments.
