Scottish Cereal Harvest 2013 December 18, 2013 12:00 am Final estimates from the 2013 Scottish harvest have been released. Compared with the 2012 harvest: Spring barley production increased by 18% to 1.7 million tonnes. Winter barley production increased by 1% to 280,000 tonnes. Wheat production decreased by 3%, a 14% reduction in area was offset by a 12% increase in average yield. Oat production increased by 75% to 187,000 tonnes. Oilseed rape production rose by 5%, mainly from higher yields, provisional estimates indicated a 2% fall in production. Overall 2013 cereal production is estimates at 2.9 million tonnes, 56,000 tonnes more than first estimates predicted.
