Scottish Agricultural Wages September 21, 2016 12:00 am The new Agricultural Wages Order for Scotland will not be published until 1st April 2017. The Scottish Agricultural Wages Board (SAWB) has decided to change the date from the usual 1st October, so that it aligns with future changes to the the new National Living Wage. The National Minimum Wage will also be set from 1st April in the future, but for 2016 the rate does increase from 1st October. Agricultural employers in Scotland are reminded that the minimum rate of pay for agricultural workers cannot fall below either the National Minimum Wage or the National Living Wage. Therefore the minimum rates of pay for agricultural workers in Scotland with effect from 1st October 2016 are: For the first 26 weeks of employment for those aged up to and including 24 years old – £6.95 per hour For the first 26 weeks of employment for those aged 25 years and over – £7.20 per hour After 26 weeks of employment, regardless of age – £7.24 per hour
