Renewed Appoval Expected for Glyphosate November 18, 2015 12:00 am EU Food Safety watchdog, EFSA, has found that glyphosate, the world’s most widely-used weed killer, is ‘unlikely to cause cancer’. This is contrary to the World Health Organisation’s report published in March. The report will now be examined by the EU Commission and proposals for a renewal of its authorisation for use in the EU drawn up. For the first time for this substance, the EFSA has set acceptable exposure limits of 0.5mg/kg of body weight. Maximum residue levels for glysophate in food and feed are set to be reviewed next year.
