Record Milk Auction Price

The Fonterra milk products auction has reached its highest-ever level during its lastest round.  The sale on the 21st January saw the weighted average index break the $5,000 barrier for the first time at $5,025 per tonne.  This is a 1.4% rise on the auction event earlier in January and shows that market demand for commodity milk products remains strong despite increasing milk output globally.  The index, which is now regarded as the global benchmark price, is 46% higher than it was a year ago.
