Peter Kendall To Step Down October 15, 2013 12:00 am After eight years as the President of the National Farmers Union, Peter Kendall has confirmed his intentions to step down in February 2014. During his term he has overseen key industry incidents, including the 2007 foot-and-mouth and bluetongue outbreaks, CAP reform, the SOS Dairy campaign and most recently the badger cull pilots. Most in the industry believe that he has been a very effective andcapable leader of the NFU. Nominations for the next NFU President, Deputy President and Vice President opened this week and must be received by 15th January. The elections will then take place on the second day of the NFU 2014 annual conference, in Birmingham, on 26th February. Meurig Raymond, who has been Mr Kendall’s deputy during his term is likely to start out as the favourite for the Presidency, with Vice President Adam Quinney also a possible candidate.
