NI Bans GM

The Northern Ireland Executive has followed the lead of the Scottish Government in banning the cultivation of GM crops in the Province.  This follows an rule change at EU level allowing Member States to opt outof growing approved GM crops.  These moves are largely symbolic as the few GM crops approved for cultivation in the EU are not designed for UK conditions or pests.
