New Pig Pricing System Launched

The British Pig Executive (BPEX) has launched their replacement pig pricing system.  The GB Standard Pig Price (SPP) uses the same specification as the deadweight average pig price (DAPP), but covers only standard pigs.  This means that pigs that receive a premium because of their breed, rearing system etc. will be excluded.  The data is collected weekly from processors and is based on individual pig data including the gross price and bonus payments.  The DAPP and SPP will use slightly different sets of data, so will not be directly comparable.  The DAPP will continue to be published alongside the SPP until September.
