New Appointments for the Dairy Industry August 12, 2013 12:00 am Dr Judith Bryans has been appointed the new Chief Executive of Dairy UK, following the retirement of the previous head, Jim Begg. Dairy UK aims to be the industry body representing the whole of the dairy supply chain, but has been widely seen as a processors’ organisation in the past. Dr Byans, is a nutrition scientist, and this appointment may see a change in Dairy UK to focus more on consumer and health issues. She has been the Director of the Dairy Council since 2006. This body, largely financed by Dairy UK, provides science-based information about dairy products. Dr Byans will take up her new position with Dairy UK on 1st October. Her replacement at the Dairy Council will be appointed in due course. Sir Jim Paice has also secured a new role, the former Farm Minister will become the Chairman of dairy farmer co-operative First Milk. Sir Jim, who is still the MP for South East Cambridgeshire, will take up his new role from 31st October when Bill Mustoe, the current chairman, steps down.
