Milk Reduction Scheme

October 20, 2016 12:00 am

The second application window for the milk production reduction scheme closed on 12th October.  Just over 6,000 farmers across the EU applied, offering to reduce their production by 97,880 tonnes.  This has exceeded the maximum volume available by a considerable amount.  After the response to the first period, just  over 12,000 tonnes were left and therefore claims for the second window will have to be scaled back considerably; the EU has set a coefficient of 0.12462762.  The RPA will apply this coefficient to reduce all claims.  The RPA will write to claimants shortly to confirm the amount they can claim for.

The scheme will not now be available for the 3rd and 4th periods which were initially made available.  Those who have already applied to the RPA for these remaining periods do not have to do anything, the RPA will withdraw their application.
