Price Cuts

More milk price reductions have been announced for August.  Among the most significant (in terms of volume) are 1ppl for Meadow Foods (down to 20ppl), 1ppl for Joseph Heler, and 0.37ppl for farmers supplying the Co-op (down to 28.32ppl).

Tesco

A letter has been sent to all members of the Tesco Sustainable Dairy Group (TSDG) stating that the initiative is to be subject to a review.  This is to ‘adapt the TSDG to industry changes’ and ‘make it sustainable’.  This would appear to suggest that radical changes could result.  These may be instituted by November which is the next scheduled price review date.  Any change in pricing policy by Tesco could well see the other middle-market supermarkets with aligned producer groups (Sainsbury’s, Co-op) also looking to change things.

IrishProduction

Latest figures show that milk production in April and May this year in Ireland was 12.2% higher than the corresponding months last year.
