Market Management Mechanisms Ditched June 27, 2013 12:00 am A new supply management tool backed by the European Parliament has been rejected in the CAP reform negotiations (see Newsflash of 27th June for further CAP reform details). The EP was pushing for a the system which would have granted aid to farmers who voluntarily cut their prodution by 5% compared to the previous year’s levels or made them pay a levy if their production increased by 5% after the end of milk quotas in March 2015. However, both the European Council (Farm Ministers) and EU Commission were against the proposals.
