The June Survey of Agriculture shows that beef and pig herds in England declined between 2013 and 2014.  However, the dairy breeding herd increased by 2.6% to just over 1.1 million cows.  The beef herd declined by a further 1.3% in 2014 (after a 2013 decline of 3.0%) to 710,000.  The female pig breeding herd reduced 2.8% whilst sheep and lambs increased by 3.1%, however breeding ewes showed little change.  (Poultry and minority enterprise figures are to be published on 30th October).  The full results can be found at https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/355868/structure-jun2014final-eng-18sep14.pdf
