Horticulture Statistics August 28, 2014 12:00 am Within the UK, vegetable area rose 2% to 131,000 hectares in 2013 and fruit area remained unchanged at 29,000 hectares according to the newly published ‘Basic UK Horticultural Statistics 2014’. Fruit quality rose by 4% and vegetable quality 5%, reflecting the easier summer last year with vegetable values rising 5% and fruit remaining largely unchanged at a collective value of about £1.9 billion.
