Glyphosate Renewal Postponed March 24, 2016 12:00 am The EU has postponed the renewal for the approval of glyphosate. Member States were due to vote on the issue on the 7th March, but the decision was delayed after it became clear that a number of countries (including France, Italy and the Netherlands), would vote against approval. The EU Commission wants a broad-based approval for the re-licence of the agro-chemical as, being the world’s most-used herbicide, it is so high-profile. Under the EU’s own rules a decision should be made before June, but there is lobbying for this to be postponed whilst the EU Chemicals Agency produces its own report.
