Glyphosate Renewal Postponed

The EU has postponed the renewal for the approval of glyphosate.  Member States were due to vote on the issue on the 7^th March, but the decision was delayed after it became clear that a number of countries (including France, Italy and the Netherlands), would vote against approval.  The EU Commission wants a broad-based approval for the re-licence of the agro-chemical as, being the world’s most-used herbicide, it is so high-profile.  Under the EU’s own rules a decision should be made before June, but there is lobbying for this to be postponed whilst the EU Chemicals Agency produces its own report.
