Final Farming Statistics for 2013 December 19, 2013 12:00 am The final results from the 2013 June Survey have been released. The provisonal results for the 2013 UK Harvest and Livestock populations published in the Autumn (see October Bulletin) have largely seen only minor revisions. The more significant updates are: Wheat area was revised down to 1,615 thousand hectares (from the provisional 1626), this is 19% lower than 2012. Total pig numbers increased by 9% compared to the previous year. The breeding herd totals 522,000, a 0.3% decrease on the previous year. Provisional figures estimated a 2% fall in the breeding herd. Total sheep and lamb numbers increased by over 500,000 on the provisional figures, now totalling 32,856 thousand. The breeding flock increased to 15,561 thousand, a 2% increase on the 2012 figures.
