Fertiliser Prices

Attention in nearly all sectors has been on output prices but many costs have also reduced.  In particular, fertiliser prices have been falling steadily over the last few months due to a global oversupply.  Prices for Ammonium Nitrate (34.5% N) dropped to about £170 per tonne (bagged) in June, some 40% less than a year ago and the lowest for nine years.  The situation is similar for both Phosphates and Potash.  But it remains to be seen how much effect the UK’s decision to leave the UK will have on prices.  Imports of Ammonium Nitrate have already been affected by the fall in the strength of the Pound since the referendum and are currently trading at minimal discount to UK product.
