EU Green House Gas Emissions June 6, 2013 12:00 am Latest figures from the European Environment Agency reveal the UK topped the charts for the largest reduction in green house gases from 2010 to 2011. The UK reduced its emissions by over 40 million tonnes of CO2 equivalent, nearest to it were France and Germany who both reduced their green house gases by between 25 and 30 million tonnes of CO2 equivalent. Romania, Bulgaria, Spain, Estonia, Lithuania all saw their emissions increase. Overall the EU-27 countries cut emmissions by 155m tonnes of CO2 equivalent (-3.3%) with the EU-15 reducing their green house gases by 4.2%. Emissions from agriculture accounted for 10.2% of the total in 2011 compared to 9.8% in 2010.
