ELS Livestock Record Keeping

ELS agreement holders will not be required to record livestock numbers on a field-by-field basis.  Natural England wrote to around 11,000 farmers in April stating that EU rules meant that those with ‘livestock’ (i.e. non-arable) options in their agreements would need to record animal numbers in each field covered by the requirements.  This caused some consternation about increased record-keeping and red tape.  Natural England has now decided that this rule change will not be implemented until further notice.
