Early subsidy payments in Wales

September 23, 2013 12:00 am

The Welsh Government has announced that the 2013 Single Payment will be brought forward for around 3,300 Welsh farmers.  The move comes to help ease the cash flow pressures faced by farmers affected by the severe weather in March and April.  Farmers in parts of Gwynedd, Conwy, Denbighshire, Flintshire, Wrexham, Montgomeryshire, Radnor and North Ceredigion will receive payments from 16th October, six weeks earlier than planned.

Farmers do not need to apply for the advanced payments.   Up to 50% of the SPS will be automatically made to those who farm in areas where a temporary derogation to bury animals was provided. The remaining 50% will be paid at the same time as all other farmers; subject to validation this will be from 2nd December.
