Crisis Aid Allocated

English dairy farmers will receive an average payment of £1,820 as a result of the EU crisis aid.  The UK’s share of the total support was €36m, equating to £26m.  Of this, England is to get £15.5m, Northern Ireland £5.1m, Wales £3.2m and Scotland £2.3m.  The split is largely based on the volumes of milk produced in each country in 2014/15, but N.Ireland has received greater funding as it has seen larger price falls than other parts of the UK.  In England, the money will be allocated to farms again on the basis of production in the previous milk year.  This works out at around 0.17ppl, or £1,820 for an average English producer.  The devolved administrations in N.I., Wales and Scotland can decide how to use the money allocated to them, but it would be a surprise if they departed from the litres-based distribution method.  In England, payment of the money is expected in December.
