CAP Reform Purdah May 1, 2014 12:00 am No announcements on the implementation of CAP reform are now expected from UK governments before the end of May. The pre-election ‘purdah’ period before the European and Local elections on the 22nd May has now begun. This convention means that no policy announcements are made in the period before an election in case they are seen to be swaying the electorate towards a particular party or candidate. Therefore decisions such as the choices around Ecological Focus Areas will have to wait for a few more weeks.
