Lesley Griffiths has been appointed as the new Cabinet Secretary for Environment and Rural Affairs in Wales.  Under  the previous administration, the responsibility of agriculture had been passed to junior ministers which had left many in the industry disgruntled.  But after being reinstated as First Minister for Wales, Carwyn Jones has restored a dedicated Cabinet Secretary for Environment and Rural Affairs.  Following the elections on 5th May, which saw Labour fall short of a majority, Carwyn Jones remains as First Minister following a deal with Plaid Cymru; he has been first Minister since 2009.  Former Deputy Minister for Farming and Food, Rebecca Evans remains a junior minister but is now responsible for Social Services and Public Health.  Lesley Griffiths started in politics in 2007, she has no direct experience in agriculture.
