Breed Herds September 30, 2015 12:00 am DEFRA has released the results of the June Survey of Agriculture in England. This shows most livestock breeding herds increasing, albeit by small percentages. The dairy herd shows the greatest year-on-year growth rising 1.7% to June. The beef herd grew by a more modest 0.3%. In the pig sector numbers increased by 0.4%, but the sheep flock saw a decline – down by 0.8%. The provisional results for the whole UK will be published on the 15th October and we will do a fuller analysis next month.
