Bird Flu Outbreak November 17, 2014 12:00 am DEFRA has confirmed that avian flu has been found on a duck breeding farm near Driffield, Yorkshire. The H5 strain has been identified and a 10km restriction zone put in place. Around 6,000 birds will be culled as a result. Investigations are ongoing to see if this outbreak is related to the cases found in the Netherlands and Germany. The Netherlands will see more than 150,000 birds destroyed after the H5N8 strain was found. Public Health England are keen to stress that the risk to public health is extremely low.
