Beet Harvest Increases February 26, 2014 12:00 am British Sugar has increased their estimate for harvest 2013 to 1.3 million tonnes of sugar, up from the 1.28 million tonnes announced in mid-January. This is a 13% increase in sugar yield compared to 2012, and only just below the 2011 high of 1.32m tonnes. The mild winter weather is reported to have kept beet growing into 2014 resulting in good sugar content and high beet yields. The campaign has now almost finished in all areas.
