Beef Most Damaging to Environment

A study published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences has concluded that beef production is nearly ten times more damaging to the environment that any other meat production.  American scientists measured the environmental inputs required and found beef production needed 28 times more land, 11 times more irrigation water and produced 5 times more greenhouse gas emissions than pork, poultry, eggs or dairy (lamb was not included in the study).  The study results have been widely circulated across the media and have raised further calls for people to reduce their red meat consumption.
