AHDB Recommended List 2016/17 December 14, 2015 12:00 am Thirty two new cereal and oilseed rape varieties have been added to the 2016/17 AHDB Cereals and Oilseeds Recommended lists, whilst 47 varieties have been removed. Yield and quality remain the key drivers for variety selection but this year a number of varieties with good disease resistance without the associated yield penalty have been added. For winter wheat nine new varieties have been included across all four Nabim groups. Of these, two of theproducts have a 7 for septoria resistance. Five winter barley varieties have been added along with 5 spring barleys, this includes Laureate which tops the yield chart for new varieties. Eleven oilseed rape types have been added, including Angus and Alizze which have good resistance to phoma stem canker and light leaf spot respectively. Two oat varieties, Maestro and Lineout have been included this year, both are yielding above the popular Mascani.
