AHDB Cereals Quality Survey

Provisional results from the AHDB Cereals and Oilseeds indicate average protein being the highest for a decade and Hagberg results are also up. The early indications for barley suggest a smaller specific weight and grain size than most earlier years. This contrast in quality is thought to be because of the timing of sunshine in readiness for the wheat harvest but not for barley. This survey will be updated with final results in late October or early November.
