AD FiT Review

June 14, 2016 12:00 am

Support of Anaerobic Digestion (AD) could be cut severely under plans proposed by the government.  The Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) has released a consultation on future support under the Feed in Tariff (FIT) regime for AD.  Among other changes, this is proposing that, from January 2017;

  • removing FIT support completely for facilities above 500kW
  • a further reduction in FITs for plants up to 500kW
  • restricting FIT payments to electricity generated from wastes and residues only (i.e. not from crops such as maize or ryegrass).  An alternative proposal is to limit FITs paid on electricity generated from sources other than waste to 50% of the biogas yield

For the full consultation see – https://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/review-of-support-for-anaerobic-digestion-and-micro-combined-heat-and-power-under-the-feed-in-tariffs-scheme.  The deadline for responses is the 7th July.
