English Crop Areas

Provisional DEFRA statistics have been published for the crop areas in England for 2015.  In line with previous forecasts (see last Bulletin), these show the wheat area dropping compared to harvest 2014.  The harvested area decreased by 5.8%.  The total barley area went up by 6.0%, whilst oilseed rape crops fell by 2.9%.  The full release can be found at – https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/453220/structure-jun2015provcrops-eng-13aug15.pdf.  Final English figures will be published on the 17^th September, whilst the UK figures will be available on the 15^th October.
