Welsh TB Consultation

August 17, 2015 12:00 am

Following the decision earlier this year to not introduce a tabular based compensation system, the Welsh Government has launched a consultation into their TB compensation arrangements.  The aim is to penalise those undertaking risky practices and incentivise people to keep the disease out of their herd.  Market value will remain the method of compensation with valuers required to justify claims over £3,000 (previously £4,000).  Valuations will also be capped at £15,000.

Reductions in compensation for risky practice can be as much as 95%.  Farmers may receive less than market value if they;

  • fail to test on time
  • fail to comply with a Veterinary Improvement Notice
  • breach the Tuberculosis (Wales) Order 2010.
